AFPM Cancels International Petrochemicals Conference

published on January 7, 2020

The Gantrade worldwide commercial team normally heads to one of the key conferences on the global petrochemicals stage this time of year. We have just been notified, along with other attendees, of the cancellation of the 2020 gathering of the American Fuel and Petrochemical Manufacturers (AFPM) in New Orleans, due to the spread of COVID-19.

“We’re able to describe our mutual business goals and core capabilities, discuss supply requirements and the industry landscape, and address moving forward together at the International Petrochemicals Conference,” said Gantrade General Manager George Kwiatkowski. “It is unfortunate that this year’s event will not go on as planned, but we support the AFPM’s decision to look after the health and safety of attendees, including our own. We look forward to seeing our industry colleagues at the next scheduled AFPM General Meeting.”

The 2020  AFPM International Conference was previously slated to take place from March 29-31 in New Orleans, Louisiana. AFPM is one of the world's largest and most prestigious conferences representing the petrochemical industry.  The annual meeting typically consists of sessions covering key political, economic, and environmental issues affecting the petrochemical industry.  The Conference emphasizes global competitiveness in the petrochemical business with presentations by recognized experts in the areas of petrochemical markets, economics, and politics.

For over 35 years, the commercial teams at Gantrade have participated with customers and prospects representing every corner of the global petrochemicals business.  As in previous years, we were proud to host our industry colleagues at our annual cocktail reception, which was to be held in the Crescent City during the conference.

“We always appreciate meeting with representatives of our industry and discussing the petrochemicals business at the AFPM’s international conference, whether it is in the more casual setting of our cocktail reception or our more formal conference room meetings,” explained Kwiatkowski. “We’re able to describe our mutual business goals and core capabilities, discuss supply requirements and the industry landscape, and address moving forward together.

Gantrade Corporation sources and markets a wide range of performance chemical and polymer products globally, including monomers, intermediates, polymers and systems. Kwiatkowski continued that the team devotes considerable attention to the interests of the petrochemical markets in which we participate, including adhesives and sealants, paint and coatings, construction, polymers & resins, water-soluble polymers, polyurethane intermediates, oil field chemicals, plastics and plastic additives, elastomers and rubber,  packaging resins, paper, inks, and more.
