VAE (vinyl acetate ethylene) emulsions and redispersible powders are copolymers in which the vinyl acetate content can range between 60 and 95 percent, while the ethylene content ranges between five and 40 percent. VAE copolymers have considerable performance advantages over PVAc homopolymers, including enhanced toughness, increased flexibility and durability, low temperature performance without plasticizers, and water resistance. Applications include packaging, laminating and construction adhesives, cement modifiers, caulks and mortars. VAE redispersible powders combine the performance attributes of the VAE emulsions with the convenience of handling as a dry-mix component.
PVOH (polyvinyl alcohols) are highly-versatile, water-soluble polymers used in a wide range of applications. Our grade range is broad, and we offer both granular and fine powder (through 80 mesh) forms. PVOH exhibits excellent film-forming and adhesive properties. Application areas include adhesives, binders for inorganic materials, cement additives, and fluid loss control agents. In the construction industry, PVOH improves flexibility, strength, bonding, water retention, and workability in products such as dry putty and mortars, tile adhesives, and cementitious products.
Thermoplastic polyvinyl butyral resin is an exceptional adhesive with strong binding properties and solubility in a range of solvent classes. The broad spectrum of chemical compositions allows the design and optimization of targeted product performance profiles. The main applications (outside of safety glass interlayer structures) are in adhesives, paints and coatings, lacquers and varnishes, primers and inks.
