POLYURETHANE & POLYUREA INTERMEDIATES

Gantrade’s portfolio of products for the polyurethane and polyurea industries address a wide range of performance profiles and applications where enhanced strength, flexibility, durability, toughness, and unique processing characteristics are required.

Gantrade is a proud supplier for polyurethane industries with a vast knowledge of the complex materials required. Polyurethane intermediates create a reaction by combining a polyol, or an alcohol containing two or more reactive hydroxyl groups in its molecular structure, with a polymeric isocyanate or diisocyanate. This combination provides sufficient variation between the differing polyols and isocyanate variants to create a range of effects. Still, the combination also requires at least one of a numerous range of additives and catalysts to create the reaction that results in a polyurethane.

The particular combination used results in a wide range of products, including thermoplastic urethanes, sealants, coatings, adhesives, elastomers, and rigid and flexible foams. This wide range of properties that are developed using the diverse chemistry of polyurethanes provides our world with even more products, including insulating spray foam, protective layers on a wide range of materials, and sealants for car seats, kitchen appliances, IT applications, and much more.

As a proud part of polyurethane industries, Gantrade is proud to supply a range of intermediates for the market, giving you the material you need from a consistent and reliable supplier.

A significant component of our polyester product portfolio is our extensive line of polycaprolactone polyols. These high-performance polyester polyols offer lower viscosities (due to their narrow molecular weight distribution), better high temperature properties, lower glass-transition temperatures, hydrolytic stability and have very low acid values, compared to conventional glycol adipate polyols.

Intermediates for Polyurethane Industries

What Are They?

Polyurethane intermediates are additives that are added to an existing polyurethane product by a third party or the end user. They can include curing accelerators or retardants that impact cure time. Some intermediates improve the strength or flexibility of the final product. Others will change the hardness or durability of the cured application, including resistance to abrasion, tearing, and wear.

Other intermediates may prevent shrinking, help with humidity, burn temperature, casting ability, improved hydrolytic stability, better mechanical properties, chemical resistance, and much more. You can learn more about the roles that different intermediates play in our glossary.

What Are They Used For?

Polyurethane intermediates provide a wide range of properties to a polyurethane mix, which may help to provide specific functionality or factors when it is put into use or merely to make the application or creation process easier and more efficient. In either situation, having a solid grasp of what the different polyurethane intermediates can do for your purposes can help you determine which ones will work best for your applications.

Benefits of Using Gantrade Polyurethane Intermediates

Your business doesn't deal with just one new situation or requirement for a polyurethane coating or application but may see many over the years. Rather than having to change to a formulation you're completely unfamiliar with, Gantrade's portfolio of polyurethane and polyurea intermediates allow you to address many performance profiles and needs while providing enhanced flexibility, durability, toughness, strength, and other unique characteristics that are required for your project.

How Gantrade Serves Polyurethane Industries

Dedicated to supplying a reliable source of high-quality raw materials and additives to the polyurea and polyurethane industries, Gantrade Corporation provides a diverse portfolio of products for cast elastomers, adhesives, sealants, polyurea coatings, TPEEs, TPUs, and similar sectors. Our team's extensive application expertise makes it easy for us to collaborate with customers, providing products tailored to their particular needs.

Gantrade’s Polyurethane Intermediate Products

Our diverse portfolio includes glycol adipate polyols for high tensile and tear strength, resistance to non-polar hydrocarbon-based solvents, and good UV resistance, with 2-methyl-1,3-propanediol (MPO) adipates providing improved hydrolytic stability and low-molecular-weight-diol compatibility. We also provide a range of curatives for MDI and TDI systems, including low-moisture BDO and MOCA, as well as a range of specialty diols and diamines. We also provide an extensive line of polycaprolactone polyols for lower viscosities, better high-temperature properties, lower glass-transition temperatures, very low acid values, and hydrolytic stability when compared to more conventional glycol adipate polyols.

Our PTMEG in 220, 650, 1000, 1400, 1800, 2000, and 3000 molecular weights provide exceptional hydrolytic resistance, dynamic performance, high levels of elongation, resiliency, and resistance to impingement abrasion, vital qualities in high-performance cast polyurethane resin systems, polyester-ester elastomers, Spandex fibers, thermoplastic polyurethanes, abrasion-resistant coatings, skate wheels, caster wheels, and industrial tires. This allows Gantrade to provide material solutions for a wide range of segments in the polyurea and polyurethane industries.

But beyond the wide portfolio of raw materials that we supply to the industry is our history and dedication to our clients. With a history spanning back nearly half a century, our expertise in the international market is second to none. This is because of our dedication to collaboration, not only within our company but with our clients and their suppliers. We believe that transparency and sustainability are the cornerstones of our business. To learn more about our raw materials for polyurea and polyurethane industries, contact Gantrade today!
