CA4040SZX is a biobased aliphatic polyester based on biobased sebacic acid as the dibasic acid and biobased 1,4-butanediol as the diol. The sebacic acid is a natural C10 linear fatty acid derived from castor oil with 100% renewable content and the biobased 1,4-butanediol is produced by fermentation of renewable feedstocks. Key features of 1,4-BDO/sebacic acid polyols are more crystalline and have high melting points which allows them to be easily converted into polyurethane elastomers.
