Methyl Methacrylate (MMA)

Methyl methacrylate (MMA) is the foundational monomer for acrylic homopolymer applications and an essential comonomer in paints, coatings, adhesives, and plastic modifiers. It enhances the glass transition temperature (Tg) in copolymers and imparts properties such as hardness, durability, strength, transparency, UV resistance, and abrasion resistance. The primary use of MMA is in the production of polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA) homopolymers, commonly used for cast and extruded acrylic sheets. Additionally, MMA finds applications in safety glazing, exterior paints, impact modifiers, illuminated displays, and engineering adhesives.
