Ethyl Acrylate (EA)

Ethyl acrylate (EA) is a widely used acrylic monomer known for its excellent availability and cost-effectiveness, with demand driven by increased use in water-based paints and adhesives. It copolymerizes well with acrylate, methacrylate, and vinyl acetate monomers, enhancing softness, flexibility, and tack in copolymer compositions. Often paired with butyl acrylate for a slightly harder finish, EA contributes to good weathering, UV stability, clarity, and oil resistance in copolymers. Its primary applications include water-based adhesives, particularly pressure-sensitive adhesives (PSAs), and latex paints and coatings.
