Glacial Acrylic Acid Monomer (GAA) is an unsaturated carboxylic acid co-monomer used in a wide range of copolymers, readily copolymerizing with various monomers like acrylic and methacrylic esters, ethylene, and styrene. It improves water solubility, dispersibility, and adhesion through its carboxylic acid functionality, making it suitable for applications such as thickeners, coatings, adhesives, inks, and textile finishes. Additionally, GAA is utilized in specialty copolymers for drilling fluids, water treatment polymers, and superabsorbent materials. Its benefits include enhanced adhesion, crosslinkability, polarity, toughness, and tensile strength, accounting for about 45% of acrylic acid monomer consumption.
